Reimagining the Art Market in the Blockchain Era
Art.army was created to connect the worlds of art and blockchain through a platform where artists, galleries, curators, and cultural institutions can exhibit and commercialise digital art within a transparent, collaborative, and sustainable ecosystem.
Art.army is a digital art platform exploring the potential of blockchain to transform the creation, authentication, and commercialisation of digital artworks. Combining technology, curatorial practice, research, and cultural outreach, it creates a new ecosystem for contemporary art while exploring the future of digital culture.
A Platform for Digital Art
Art.army brings together artists, galleries, curators, cultural institutions, and collectors within a single ecosystem to explore new ways of creating, exhibiting, and commercialising digital art. The platform is built on the belief that the digital transformation of the art market requires more than new technologies—it calls for new models of collaboration that connect everyone involved in the creative ecosystem.
Art.army provides a space where technology strengthens the relationships that shape the artistic community. Designed to support curatorial projects, open up new opportunities for artists, and make digital art accessible to wider audiences, the platform cultivates an open ecosystem built around innovation, collaboration, and culture.
Blockchain as Cultural Infrastructure
Blockchain provides the infrastructure that underpins the Art.army ecosystem. Through NFTs and smart contracts, every artwork carries a digital record of authenticity, ownership, and provenance, making it possible to track its history while automating processes such as royalty payments to artists.
In this context, blockchain becomes a tool for fostering trust, transparency, and new forms of collaboration within the digital art market.
A Token to Power the Ecosystem
The project also introduces ART, a native token designed to support the platform's growth and encourage active participation within its community.
Fully integrated into the ecosystem, the token enables new models of funding, collaboration, and interaction between artists, collectors, and cultural organisations, reinforcing an approach where technology supports creativity rather than shaping it.
Beyond the Walls of the Gallery
Exhibitions lie at the heart of Art.army. Each project is conceived as a curated experience that explores new ways of engaging with digital space. Rather than recreating the galleries of a physical museum, Art.army designs bespoke metaverses for each exhibition, where architecture, narrative, and artworks come together to form a single immersive experience.
Each exhibition creates its own universe. Limbos, by Solimán López, marked the launch of the platform and made Art.army the first initiative to tokenize a digital artwork presented at ARCO. Since then, exhibitions such as Space of Vision, Pinturas Efímeras, and Dreams of Azabache have continued to expand the platform's curatorial language, inviting visitors to explore environments where digital art finds forms of expression that are simply impossible within a physical exhibition space.
Bringing Blockchain to Contemporary Art's Leading Showcase
Art.army was responsible for tokenizing Tree Hash by Solimán López, making it the first digital artwork to be presented and sold as an NFT at ARCO. The milestone demonstrated how blockchain could be integrated into the professional contemporary art world, establishing Art.army as one of the first Spanish initiatives to explore the potential of this technology within exhibition practice and digital art collecting.
Transcrypted: Exploring the Future of Digital Art
Art.army extends beyond exhibitions to become a platform for research and knowledge sharing. This commitment takes shape through Transcrypted, a two-season digital magazine featuring interviews, documentaries, and conversations with artists, curators, gallerists, and researchers exploring the impact of blockchain, NFTs, and decentralised technologies on the future of art.
Dreams of Azabache
In Dreams of Azabache, Estela Oliva creates an immersive universe where memory, identity, and ecology converge in a series of speculative digital landscapes. Conceived as an exhibition within the metaverse, the project brings together digital artworks, spatial storytelling, and an original soundtrack, inviting visitors to explore a space where the boundaries between the physical and the virtual begin to dissolve.
